Early Summer Round 3 Weed Terminator

EARLY

Summer

ROUND 3:
WEED TERMINATOR

TODAY WE SERVICED YOUR LAWN

Today your lawn received a light rate of fertilizer to help maintain the health and vigor. Depending on the weather conditions, this application may be granular or liquid or a combination of both. Because of the warmer summer temperatures, weed controls are not usually applied in a blanket fashion. Instead, weed controls are applied in low volume applications for maximum effectiveness.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS APPLICATION

With warmer weather, weed controls generally begin to work fairly quickly on most broadleaf weeds. However, you should allow at least 10 to 14 days before judging the effectiveness of the weed controls. Color response in tall fescue should be noticeable within a couple of weeks after the application has been thoroughly watered into the soil.

Note: This application will usually dry on the turf within a couple of hours after the treatment. Rainfall after this time should not diminish the effectiveness of the weed controls.

BROWN PATCH ALERT!

Brown patch is the most common disease of tall fescue in the Southeast. Brown patch favors high relative humidity as well as temperatures over 80 degrees F during the day and over 60 degrees F at night. The disease usually causes thinned patches of light brown grass that are roughly circular in shape. Close inspection of cool-season (fescue, ryegrass and bluegrass for example) grass blades reveals small, irregular, tan leaf spots with dark brown borders. In most cases, affected areas are able to recover. If you suspect brown patch disease activ ty in your lawn, please call us. Turf Managers L.L.C. offers disease control sprays at an additional charge.

BROWN PATCH MANAGEMENT TIPS:

  • Irrigate turf early in the day and avoid excess moisture on the turf during the evening and night.
  • Keep lawns mowed on a regular basis to the proper height for the grass type.
  • Keep mower blade sharp during the mowing season.

Best Practices

WATERING YOUR LAWN

Watering is essential to get the best results from your lawn treatment. Watering helps to move nutrients to the root zone of the turf where it can be utilized by the grass plants. Watering will also aid in establishing the grassy weed control barrier in the soil.

Note: During the spring and summer, it is recommended that you water your lawn early in the day to help guard against promoting turf disease.

MOWING YOUR LAWN

Proper mowing practices are critical to the health and vigor of your lawn. Do not mow off more than 1/3 of the grass blade on each mowing; avoid mowing when the turf is suffering from drought stress; keep your mower blade sharpened throughout the mowing season.
